GOAL...#financesonfleek

Updated: Oct 29, 2019

When I created my R.E.A.L.I.S.T.I.C Budget Method some ten years ago, my goal was to help couples and families reverse the trend of turning a blind eye to their finances. When working with these pairs, I found myself gravitating to the women in these situations and offering additional one-on-one coaching. In hindsight, that gravitational pull was likely my way of ensuring that regardless of how their life circumstances panned out (e.g., married or unmarried, single- or two-parent household), women would be left empowered by having their finances intact.

Fast forward to 2019 and I find myself continuing to work with women, however these days, I've been supporting mostly single women. When combining through their financials, I discover hundreds, if not thousands of dollars being spend on trips to the beauty and nail salon, and on pricey purchases of makeup, clothing, etc. After applying our R.E.A.L.I.S.T.I.C Budget method to their finances, and with some touch love and coaching, these ladies are leaving the relationship with everything—hair, nails, brows, makeup, clothing AND their FINANCES— #onfleek.

With the five simple steps offered through our budget method, ladies can learn how to create and effectively manage their monthly budgets, while simultaneously maintaining their beauty regimen.

To get and keep your #financesonfleek without sacrificing occasional pampering, try these three simple bargaining tools:

#onfleek TIP 1: Offer to pay your hairdresser monthly or quarterly.

In exchange for these lumpsum payments made up front each month or quarter, you can negotiate steeper discounts. This often results in more money in the bag and moves you to the front of the line for appointments.

#onfleek TIP 2: Save on both your budget and your waistline by shopping in bulk and meal prepping.

Give it a try for the balance of the summer and see if you notice a huge difference.

#onfleek TIP 3: Shop smart without sacrificing the look.

I’m a serious makeup lover and was once a brand loyalist…that is until I discovered I could achieve the same look for a fraction of the price. One trick that I use to save on this addiction is to search the blogs for which products deliver the same look/results without blowing the bag. If you have a shoe or clothing addiction, this tip will also work for you. For my makeup lovers, try these cost-saving blogs on for size…
